Please consult Official LL Rule Book for any and all clarifications:
Reference: Little League Rules and Regulations maximum pitches: 7-8 years old 50 pitches, 9-10 years old 75 pitches, 11-12 years old 85 pitches, 13-16 years old 95 pitches.
* During the regular season you must adhere to the pitch count at level or the Little League Rules and Regulations maximum per age .Please keep in mind a players age supersedes the level of play (example – An 8 year old in AA may not through more than 50 pitches per game [Maximum Little League Rules and Regulations], an 11 year old in AAA may not through more than 65 pitches per game.
Rest Period (per Little League Rules and Regulations)
Pitchers league age 14 and under must adhere to the following rest requirements:
• If a player pitches 66 or more pitches in a day, four (4) calendar days of rest must be observed.
• If a player pitches 51 - 65 pitches in a day, three (3) calendar days of rest must be observed.
• If a player pitches 36 - 50 pitches in a day, two (2) calendar days of rest must be observed.
• If a player pitches 21 - 35 pitches in a day, one (1) calendar days of rest must be observed.
• If a player pitches 1-20 pitches in a day, no (0) calendar day of rest is required.
Please consult the Little League Rules and Regulations for the rest period for pitcher League age 15 and above. The rest periods are different than above.
Note 1: A pitcher who delivers 41 or more pitches in a game cannot play the position of catcher for the remainder of that day.
Note 2: Any player, who has played the position of catcher in four (4) or more innings in a game, is not eligible to pitch on that calendar day. For the purposes of pitcher eligibility only, an "inning played" by a catcher, as well as a pitcher, will be defined as one pitch.
1. The pitch counts are a MANDATORY rule per Little League International rulebook.
2. The above numbers are the maximum pitches allowed per game or day. When the pitcher reaches the count, he/she will be allowed to finish the existing batter, however will need to observe the correct number of calendar days rest based on total pitches thrown.
3. The above pitch count rules will carry through ALL regulars-season games.
4. The Board will have a ZERO tolerance for infractions
5. Teams who break the rule will be subject to discipline by the HLL.
6. Teams and managers, who are found to break the rules, will possibly forfeit the game in question, and the managers are subject to a one game suspension. Multiple infractions could lead to dismissal of the manager.
7. Home team is the official keeper of counts. Both teams should count pitches for each team and cross-reference at each inning.
8. Warm up pitches are not counted toward the totals.
9. ALL game pitches are counted including foul balls, and hit balls.
10. Pitch count infractions may be protested, and must be handled in the same manner as all protests. The umpire must be notified immediately and a written protest must be submitted to the President within 24 hours. Please keep in mind that as managers and coach’s you are urged to take precautions to prevent protests. When a protest situation is imminent, the potential offenders should be notified.
